I Can't Believe it's Me

Over 10 years ago now, I remember being asked about being a "grandmother" The word or title "grandmother" was not one I wanted to carry. I was too young. There were many things I hadn't done becuase there just hadn't been enought time. At  this particular time I couldn't have told you one thing I was missing out on, but I did know I was't ready.
My freetime did not have babysitting attached to it. So me being a "grandmother" was no with a capital "NO".
Well life was constantly changing which always has a way of doing that. My marriage failed, severe depression, so sharing my love was something I had very little of. The first time being totally alone, The Good Lord know I couldn't  appreciate being a "grandmother" for sure. Being up and down...working 2 jobs to make ends meet, I made it to 2004. Alone 5 years searching for happiness, still very incomplete. Along comes Steve, and it was nice to have someone care and want to be a part of your life.
That same year my daughter told me, "I am going to have a baby". This was cool. There's a guy in my life and I am going to be a "grandmother". Ready to shop, and wanting to be a part of this new joy. Alisha didn't live in Texas, she lived in The State of Colorado. The neat thing about Steve was he worked for the airlines and he put me on this list. This list was called a "standby" and something I couldn't fathom. But it was a good list for me to be able to travel with discounts. Great! Great! now I can be a part of this new life that makes me a "grandmother".
It was't long after that I remember these very words from my son. We were discussing Alisha being pregnant and then Matt says are you ready to be a "grandmother" now? Smiling and then laughing I said I think I am....Matt says "good, because Beth is pregnant too"! Wowsie! Wow! The Lord sure has funny ways of making me feel like a special "grandmother" becuase I am not only going to be a "grandmother" once....but twice, and they are due 2 mos apart.

The Making of A Grandmother

The making of a "grandmother" takes preparation. She has to have a certain look...not out of date...but up to date! Grandmothers have always carried this sweet old lady look, but not me.
it's highlighted hair, Estee Lauder makeup, great smellin perfume and crazy to die for personality. She has to be that person who thinks she is the only one who gets to be this magical person. She has to pay attention to details and be on her toes to be this magical person.
Now since she is magical, classy and very up to date, she needs a name. It can't be MeeMaw, beucase tha's my mom's name and she has carried that title for many many years and it's not to be shared. The name Nanny.....oh no! Tha's only for my "grandmothers". Both my grnadmothers carried the name Nanny like no one else could in my eyes. So I could never be called Nanny.
I was selling Estee lauder at the time and being classy lady :0) my daughter in law (Beth) said your going to be called Glammy.....Glammy? cute cute... She said Glammy beucase you are a Glamerous "grandmother". Alisha came up woth MiMi and I loved that name too, but you will see as a few more stories are written Glammmmmmmy takes hold. Glammmmmy yes yes, beucase I have Texas running through these babies veins...

So Thankful

Phone Call...It's my son-in-law Jason. "Mom can you come to Colorado?" "Alisha is in the hospital, her blood pressure is over the top and she has to stay in the hospital bed. I have got to get some rest and she wants you".
Sometimes no one else can make it okay, except MOM. I have been there myself. Prayers needed prayed. My daughter was a High Risk Pregnancy. My job had to work without me and my PTO time was needed immediately. Steve was ready getting my ticket on hold for when the time was right for me to leave.
Mixed emotions, with beth due very soon and having to leave was difficult. My daughter in law Beth was fixing to have my 1st grand baby girl, but my daughter needed me. Beth said you need to go and when you get back you will get plenty of time with her.
Leaving the State of texas to Snowy cold Colorado I was off. I took $100 cash, and when I got to the airport my ride was the cab. Never have I been in a cab much less know what to expect. Well the driver taking the longest way to the hospital and $72.00 later, I made it.
Alisha was so tired of all the tests and blood work, also no rest. They were trying to get the blood pressure down. Having a baby is a miracle in it's self. it takes so much tole on the mother's body, not including how scarey it is.
So with my daughter being monitered for safety of her life, we were being told the baby was okay. The doctor siad if the complications affect the baby, right now the mother's helath was priority. For sure we didin't want any of this. Just Fix It!!!
Today I cna't remember how long I was there day and night, but it was great spending time with my daughter.
it's 11.11.04 The doctor had planned to take the baby to see if Alisha's blood pressure would drop. He was 2 months from due date, but Alisha was a severe risk.
